  • Pre WWI liners such as Titanic and Lusitania used the "Stockless Type" anchor illustrated at the top. The "Stock" refers to a cross-member fitted to the top of the anchor.

  • The title page makes the distinction between the Patent holders and Manufacturers:
  • Hall's Patent Anchor Co. owned the intellectual rights to this pattern of anchor and had the right to control its manufacture and to collect royalties for the use of the pattern.
